Made for both

A new chapter, either way

Just married

Taking your spouse's name, hyphenating, or moving your maiden name to your middle name. Sasha uses your marriage certificate and tells you how many certified copies to order.

Divorced

Going back to your maiden name or a previous last name. Sasha checks that your decree restores your name, then walks you through the same steps, plus the ones divorce adds: beneficiaries, joint accounts and your own insurance.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is Sasha a government service?

No. Sasha isn't affiliated with the Social Security Administration, the State Department or any DMV. Changing your name with those agencies is free, and you can do it yourself. Sasha saves you the research and fills in the forms.

Do I need to give you my Social Security number?

Not to start. When Sasha fills in a form that asks for sensitive details, those answers stay on your phone and the form is created there. They aren't stored on our servers.

Which states do you cover?

All 50 states and Washington, D.C. Each state's DMV steps come from its official website, with the date we last checked.

Does it work after a divorce?

Yes. Sasha uses your divorce decree in place of a marriage certificate. If your decree doesn't say you can return to your former name, Sasha flags that first, since you may need a court order before you start.

What order should I do things in?

Usually: certified copies of your marriage certificate or divorce decree, then Social Security, then your driver's license, then everything else. Most offices check your name against Social Security's records.

Can someone give Sasha as a gift?

Yes. Buy a kit as a gift, or add Sasha to a registry so friends can chip in together.
